MAKE SURE YOU GET THE BEST

Surgical pathologist studying a difficult cancer biopsy. During this stressful time, you may receive recommendations from friends or relatives or find advertisements for doctors in publications or on the World Wide Web. We strongly advise that any recommended "expert" in pathology meet the qualifications listed above.

The following criteria alone should not be relied upon to determine true expertise:

  • An individual doctor advertises that he/she is an expert and is willing to do microscopic slide consultations for cancer diagnosis,
  • The physician has a personal web site,
  • The doctor is promoted in a local magazine or newspaper article,
  • A doctor is recommended by a friend or relative.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO CONFIRM THE EXPERTISE OF DOCTORS?
  • Use one of the good Internet search engines (Altavista, Google, Yahoo) to review their credentials
  • Research their publications on the National Institutes of Health's free MEDLINE service
  • Go to Web Site of the American Board of Medical Specialties

OUR EXPERT PATHOLOGISTS

All of our pathologists are nationally recognized experts who meet the criteria for excellence in our credentialing policies. Based on your diagnosis, we will provide you with the names of pathologists with sub specialty expertise in your type of cancer (for example, breast, prostate, colon). Since there may be numerous pathologists in any one area of sub specialty, we will select randomly from among these highly -qualified pathologists to provide you with the requested consultants for a second opinion. Our list of consultant pathologists may change from time to time as new pathologists are added to the list and others leave the panel.
  • There is no financial relationship between FindCancerExperts and the pathology consultants that we use. We receive no payment of any kind from our pathology consultants. They are invited to participate in this service purely on the basis of professional merit.
